George Edward Harris

George Edward Harris, age 71, a resident of 75 Virginia Dare Lane, died Thursday, January 20, 2011 at Maria Parham Medical Center. Born on July 19, 1939 in Vance County, he was the son of the late George Turner Harris and Arlene Satterwhite Harris.Mr. Harris was a former employee of Harriett & Henderson Yarns, Inc. for many years, and most recently operated the 39 Pit Stop Convenient Store until his declining health. He was also a member of Blessed Hope Baptist Church where funeral services will be held Sunday at 2:00 PMby the Rev. Donnie Perkinson.Burial will follow in Sunset Gardens.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn West Harris of the home; one daughter, Shannon H. Elliott of Henderson; one son, Lawrence W. Harris of Henderson; four sisters, Marie H. Adcock, Judy H. Pendergrass, Juanita H. Patton, and Debbie H. Milton all of Henderson; and two brothers, Robert Harris and Tony Harris of Henderson.He was preceded in death by one sister, Rose Gail Harris; and two brothers, Fred Harris and Gene Harris.
The family will receive friends Saturday night from 7:00 until 8:30 at J. M. White Funeral Home.At other times they will be at the home at 75 Virginia Dare Lane.
Serving as active pall bearers will be nephews.
Arrangements are by the J. M. White Funeral Home.
