OXFORD- George Dewey Hunt, age 88, a resident of 117 8th St., died Wednesday, October 06, 2010 at Granville Medical Center. Born on October 16, 1921 in Vance Co. he was the son of the late Clara Coleman Hunt and Dewey Lee Hunt. He was a Corporal in the United States Army serving during WW II as a Medical Technician, was a retired Manager at the Vance County ABC Store on Williams St., and was a former Mason.
Graveside services will be held Saturday at 2:00 PM at Union Chapel United Methodist Church by the Rev. Dennis Gossett.
He is survived by his wife Margaret Bailey Hunt; one daughter, Margaret Hunt Freeburg and husband Randy of Woodbridge Va.; one brother, James Donald Hunt of Henderson; two grandchildren, Nora Huff and husband Chad, Kelly Holmes and husband Jeff; and five great grandchildren A. Kristen Boyd, Heather Huff, Jackson Holmes, Gideon Holmes, and Elizabeth Holmes.
The family will receive friends Friday night from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at J. M. White Funeral Home.
