George William Long, Sr.

HENDERSON- George William Long, 82, of Gun Club Road, died Wednesday, August 5, 2020 at his home.Born in Person County on March 20, 1938, he was the son of the late John Floyd Long, Sr. and Lillie Dell Breedlove Long and was the widower of Frances O'Brien Long. He was retired from Standard Motor Parts and the former Lauren's Glass Company.George was a charter member of Central Baptist Church and was a former Chairman of the Board of Trustees at the church.He was an avid fisherman.
A graveside funeral service will be held Saturday at 10:00 AM at Rehoboth United Methodist Church.
He is survived by two daughters, Leigh Ann Long of South Carolina and Shannon Long of Henderson; two sons, Brian Long and wife, Carla, of Pennsylvania and Kevin Long and wife, Natalie, of Flat Rock, NC; ten grandchildren; and two sisters, Sallie Pruitt and husband, Carroll and Hazel Ramsey and husband, Aaron, all of Henderson.
He was preceded in death by a son, a daughter, three brothers and two sisters.
The family will receive friends following the service on Saturday; at other times they will be at the home, 294 Gun Club Road, Henderson, NC 27537.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Central Baptist Church, Mission Fund, 2574 Ruin Creek Rd, Henderson, NC 27537.
