HENDERSON-George Henry Stanley, age 87, a resident of 2709 Community House Road, Oxford, died Thursday, March 29, 2012, at Granville Medical Center.Born on December 28, 1924 in Vance County, he was the son of the late Leon Fredrick Stanley and Ora Inscoe Stanley Pruitt.Mr. Stanley was a self-employed painter and member of Peaces Chapel Baptist Church where he was a member of the Adult Combined Sunday School Class.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 4:00 pm at Peaces Chapel Baptist Church by the Rev. Bruce Brooks and the Rev. Tony Futrell.Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Alice Bowlin Stanley and sister-in-law, Etta Gooch Bowlin of the home; one daughter, Sherie Lux and husband, Steve of Henderson; one son, David Winston Ayscue and wife, Andrea of Raleigh; two sisters, Irene Currin and husband, W.A. and Dorothy Hope and husband, John both of Henderson; eight grandchildren, Amanda Long, Justin Long, Jessica Lux, Cameron Long, Stephanie Lux, Danielle Lux, Logan Ayscue, and Kane Ayscue; his sisters-in-law, Linda Stanley, Idell Stanley, Carolyn Barnes, and Margaret Stanley; and his brother-in-law, Leon Lively.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, W. D. Jake Stanley, I. Fred Stanley, Dan Stanley, Harold Stanley and Janie Lively.
The family will receive friends Saturday night from 7:00 until 8:30 pm at J. M. White Funeral Home.At other times they will be at the home at 2709 Community House Road in the Watkins Community.
Serving as active pall bearers will be Bernie Long, Joel Harris, Spotwood Burwell, Richard Floyd, Ronny Davis, and Donald Woodlief.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Peaces Chapel Baptist Church Building Fund, 4149 Sawmill Road, Oxford, NC 27565.
