George Rose Watkins Iii

George Rose "Tripp" Watkins, III, 24, a resident of 2005 Brookrun Road, died Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at his home.Tripp was born in Henderson on January 1, 1993 and was the son of Gayle Irvin Watkins and George Rose "Chip" Watkins, Jr. of Henderson.He was a 2011 graduate of Kerr-Vance Academy and attended East Carolina University.While in high school he was a member of the 2008 Kerr-Vance Academy NCSIAA state championship golf team and was named to the All State team during that season. Tripp was an avid outdoorsman and loved to hunt and fish.He was currently employed as the warehouse manager at Rose Oil Company.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 2, 2017 at 3:00 PM at First Baptist Church by Dr. Ronald S. Cava.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his sister, Kathryn Morgan Watkins; his maternal grandmother, June Wood Irvin; his paternal grandparents, Amaryllis Beasley "Chickie" Watkins and George Rose Watkins, Sr. all of Henderson; two aunts, Kathryn I. Simpson and husband Rob of Cary and Leah W. Dodge of Richmond, VA; an uncle, Franklin L. Irvin, Jr. and wife Rebecca of Henderson; and cousins, Elizabeth Irvin, Cole Simpson, Franklin Irvin,III, Ali Simpson and Max Dodge.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Franklin L. Irvin, Sr.
The family will receive friends at the home of his parents, 278 Country Club Drive, Henderson.
