TOWNSVILLE-George Hammett Williamson, Jr., 82, a resident of 1360 Townsville Landing Road, died Saturday, April 21, 2018 at Franklin Manor Assistant Living in Franklinton.Born on February 4, 1936 in Vance County, he was the son of the late George Hammett Williamson, Sr. and Zelma Elliott Williamson and was the widower of Wanda Jones Williamson.He was retired from the former Laurens Glass Plant and was a member of Nut Bush Presbyterian Church.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 pm at Nut Bush Presbyterian Church by the Rev. David Vellenga.Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
He is survived by one son, Darris Williamson (Chatthong) of Little River, SC; two grandchildren, Donald Boyd and Angela Wieland; five great grandchildren, Dakota, Tyler, Hailey, Logan, and Corbin; and three sisters, Shirley W. Adams of Raleigh, Mary W. Norwood (Chuck) of Townsville, and Carolyn W. Harrell of Raleigh.In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Georgia Kay Dickerson; one grandson, Anson Boyd; and one sister, Barbara W. Thomas.
The family will receive friends following the service on Wednesday in the Fellowship Hall at Nut Bush Presbyterian Church and at other times they will be at the home of Charlie and Mary Norwood, 186 Townsville Landing Road, Henderson.
Serving as pallbearers will be Robert Adams, Brad Adams, Mitch Norwood, Seth Moody, Trey Harrell, Chet Thomas, Wesley Harrell and Vance Harrell.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Nut Bush Presbyterian Church Cemetery Fund, c/o of Charlie T. Norwood, PO Box 184, Townsville, NC27584.
