HENDERSON-George Charles Charlie Wynne, age 77, a resident of 109 Sherwood Road died Friday, October 07, 2016, at his home.Born in Vance County on April 13, 1939, he was the son of the late George and Belle Parham Wynne.He was a beloved son, brother, husband, father, PaPa, and a friend to all.Charlie was a member of Middleburg Baptist Church.A Veteran of the United States Army, he served during the Korean War where he was stationed in Japan for three years. He was employed at the former Laurens Glass Plant for more than 45 years.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 am at J. M. White Funeral Home by the Rev. J. Marshall Neathery and the Rev. Cam Ford.The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the Henderson Country Club. At other times they will be at the home, 109 Sherwood Road. A private burial will be held at Sunset Gardens.
Charlie is survived by his wife of 54 years, Mary E. Wynne of Henderson; two sons,
Charlie R. Wynne (Shannon) and Darrell E. Wynne (Kimberly) both of Cary; four very special grandchildren, Ethan S. Wynne, Harrison P. Wynne, Emily L. Wynne, and Jackson C. Wynne all of Cary; two sisters, June W. Adcock of Henderson and Peggy W. Henson of Crossnore; and the most special brother, William W. Wynne of Henderson. Charlie was preceded in death by two sisters, Lois W. Coley and Margaret W. Lassiter.
Serving as active pall bearers will be Martin E. Harper, C. Wilton Moody, Jr., Larry D. Moody, R. Wayne Moody, Dale Edwards, Toney Sanford, Toney Murray, and Kenneth M. Goss, Jr.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 8300 Health Park, Suite 10, Raleigh, NC27615.
