Gilbert Guy Brooks

HENDERSON- Gilbert Guy Brooks, 61, of Anderson Creek Road, died Wednesday, June 24, 2026. Born September 17, 1964 in Durham County, he was the son of the late Greta Coulter Brooks and Gilbert Gamaliel Brooks and was the widower of Robin Richardson Brooks. Guy was a lifelong musician which allowed him to share his talent through songwriting, music production and performing. He was a member of the Castaways Band for more than 30 years, leading the group both as their manager and bassist. A pillar of the Carolina beach music community, Guy supported other musicians throughout his life.

He was a member of Flat Rock United Methodist Church where funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 30, 2026 at 11:00 A.M. by Pastor Eric Burmhal. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Guy is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth Brooks; his son, Gil Brooks and wife, Irina; a grandson, Jackson Richardson Brooks; his sister, Gela Brooks Beck; two brothers, Geoff Brooks and wife, Michelle and Greg Brooks; his godfather, Millard Thacker; and his niece, Lauren Brooks.

Serving as pallbearers will be Mike Ashworth, John Arthurs, Billy Darr, Mike Brooks, Brad Carver, Phil Wilson, Rob Brooks and James Temple.

The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6:00 P.M. until 7:30 P.M. at J.M. White Funeral Home.
