GILDA R. LEONARD
HENDERSON-Gilda Gray Roberson Leonard, age 84, a resident of 3015 Fernwood Drive and a former resident 903 Southern Pine St., died Friday, July 02, 2010, at her home.Born in Vance County on January 28, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Lemuel Gibbons Roberson and Artelia Stanton Roberson.
Mrs. Leonard was a homemaker and a member of South Henderson Pentecostal Holiness Church where she was a member of the Ladies Bible Class.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2:30 pm at South Henderson Pentecostal Holiness Church by the Rev. Frank Sossamon and the Rev. Aaron Leonard.Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery.
She is survived by three daughters, Diane L. Davidson and husband, Billy, Alice L. Wilder, and Mary L. Lee and husband, Buddy, all of Henderson; one son, Jason R. Leonard and wife, Brandy, of Oxford; five grandchildren, Robin Williams, Chris Clopton, Jennifer Wilson, Jeff Wilder, and Holly Sossamon; ten great grandchildren, Ben Davidson, Victoria Clopton, Seth Davidson, Hunter Wilson, Jonathan Williams, Meredith Sossamon, Jacob Wilson, Maddison Sossamon, Ira Wilder, and Peyton Overby; one great great grandchild, Morgan Davidson; her special friend, Harriett Gupton; and her special caregiver, Cora Fields. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Everell Leonard; three grandchildren, Rodney Davidson, Raymond Wilder; and Jeremy Clopton; and her son-in-law, Thomas Wilder.
The family will receive friends Saturday night from 7:00 until 8:30 pm at J. M. White Funeral Home.At other times they will be at the home at 3015 Fernwood Drive.
Serving as active pall bearers will be Jason Leonard, Jeff Wilder, Ben Davidson, Seth Davidson, Roger Wilson, Hunter Wilson, Jacob Wilson, Jonathan Williams, and Ira Wilder.
Serving as honorary pall bearers will be the Ladies Bible Class and Greg Jones, Buster Abbott, Jimmy Hedgepeth, Bill Batts, Bill Loyd, Skeet Ayscue, David Barnett, and Russell Haithcock.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to South Henderson Pentecostal Holiness Church Mission Fund, 905 Americal Road, Henderson, N. C. 27536.
Arrangements are by J. M. White Funeral Home.
