HENDERSON-Glenn Loyd Harris, age 87, a resident of 231 Orville Street, died Wednesday, June 27, 2012, at Maria Parham Medical Center.Born in Vance County on March 15, 1926, he was the son of the late Frank Loyd Harris and Kate Irene Stevenson Harris.Glenn was a Veteran of the United States Army serving during World War II in the Pacific in the 43rd Division, andwas the recipient of the Purple Heart. He was a member of Hermon United Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 30, 2012, at 10:00 am in the J. M. White Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Nate Hester.Burial with Military Honors will follow in Sunset Gardens.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Kathlene Faulkner Harris of the home; one daughter, Brenda Gail Harris Ayscue of Henderson; and two sisters, Irene Talley and Vernell Parrish of Oxford.He was preceded in death by two sisters, Margie Harris and Mae H. Greenway; and four brothers, Albert Harris, Edwin Harris, Raymond Harris, and Wilbert Harris.
The family will receive friends Friday night from 7:00 until 8:30 pm at J. M. White Funeral Home.At other times they will be at the home at 231 Orville Street.
Serving as active pall bearers will be his nephews.
