Gloria Hedgepeth Norwood

Gloria Hedgepeth Norwood, 69, of 6521 Hicksboro Road, died Friday, October 4, 2019 at her home.Born February 5, 1950, in Vance County, she was the daughter of the late Malcolm Hedgepeth and Isabel Ball Hedgepeth.She was a homemaker, devoted wife, "Mama," "Grandma," and "Maw Maw" as well as a member of Dexter Baptist Church.Gloria was well known in the Hicksboro community for her love and hospitality, serving as a second mother to the neighborhood children.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, October 6, 2019 at 3:00 PM at Island Creek Baptist Church by Rev. Marshall Neathery and Rev. Johnny Yount.Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
She is survived by her husband, Carlton Lee Norwood of the home; three daughters, Janet N. Green and husband Bryant, Stacey N. Cottrell and husband David, and Julie N. Moseley and husband Brian, all of Hicksboro; seven grandchildren, Kaylee Green, Abby Green, Lexi Cottrell, Landon Cottrell, Bryson Moseley, Justin Moseley, and Isabella Moseley; and two brothers, John Richard Hedgepeth and wife Thelma and Gilbert Hedgepeth and wife Barbara, both of Dabney.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Annie Laurie H. Ellis and a brother, Charles Hedgepeth.
The family will receive friends following the service in the fellowship hall of Island Creek Baptist Church and at other times at the home of Julie and Brian Moseley, 6455 Hicksboro Road.
Serving as pallbearers will be Andy Roberson, Tommy Bennett, Rodney Dickerson, Jimmy Hobgood, Wesley Norwood, Kevin Norwood, George Norwood, and Keith Norwood.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Carolinas Chapter, 7101 Creedmoor Rd Ste 130, Raleigh, NC 27613 or www.cff.org, in honor of her granddaughter, Lexi.
