Goldie Eunice Bray Overton, age 84, a resident of 1370 Poplar Creek Road, died Sunday, October 30, 2011 at Duke University Medical Center.Born in Granville County on March 17th, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Lonie Bray and Pearl Englebright Bray and was the widow of Cleveland Turner Overton, Sr.Mrs. Overton was a homemaker and a member of Calvary Baptist Church where she was a member of the Adult Sunday School Class.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday at 2:00 PM at Calvary Baptist Church by former pastor Rev. Dr. J. Melvin Vaughn, former pastor Rev. Dr. Russell Bell, and Rev. Dr. Gene Wood.Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery.
Mrs. Overton is survived by two daughters, Peggy O. Ball and husband, Kenneth of Henderson, and Betty O. Norwood and husband, Tony of Henderson; three sons, Cleveland Turner C.T. Overton, Jr. and wife Linda, Billy Ray Overton, and Michael R. Overton, all of Henderson; and a sister, Margaret B. Lunsford of Roxboro; six grandchildren, Barry Ball and wife Deana, Scott Ball, Lee Overton and wife Melanie, Keith Overton, Nora Lynne Irvin and husband, Hal, and Stephanie B. Stokes and husband, Jason; four great-grandchildren, Josh Ball, Kendall Ball, Cameron Overton, andKipp Overton; and two step-great-grandchildren, Owen Brame and Aaron Brame. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Belle Vaughan and Gladys Bray; and two brothers, James Bray and Wayne Bray.
The family will receive friends Tuesday night from 7:00 P.M. till 8:30 P.M at J.M. White Funeral Home.At other times they will be at the home at 1370 Poplar Creek Road.
Serving as pall bearers will be Kenneth Baron Ball, Jr., Christopher Scott Ball, Samuel Lee Overton, Johnathan Keith Overton, Allen Lunsford, Gary Bray, Melvin Overton, Jr. and Josh Ball.
