Gwendolyn "Gwen" Roberson Lawrence, 77, a resident of 1326 King Street, passed away on Sunday, April 21, 2019 at Duke University Hospital.Born on August 12, 1941 in Vance County, she was the daughter of the late Leland Roberson and Kathleen Roberson Roberson.Gwen was a homemaker and a member of Raleigh Road Baptist Church.
Graveside funeral services will be held Friday at 2 pm at Sunset Gardens by the Rev. George Williams.
She is survived by her husband, Charles Edward Lawrence of the home; one daughter, Michelle L. Watkins (Sammy) of Henderson; one son, Bert (Tammy) Lawrence of Henderson; six grandchildren, Michael Overton, Sam Watkins, Kelly Ayscue, Malarie Edwards, Taylor Gray, and Kyle Lawrence; eight great grandchildren; one sister, Sue Burleson of Henderson; and one brother, L. H. Roberson of Henderson.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Nancy Lawrence.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:15 until 2:00 pm at Sunset Gardens.At other times they will be at the home.
