Harold Thomas Blackwell

OXFORD- Harold Thomas Blackwell, 75, of Oxford, died Monday, January 5, 2026 at his home. Born February 25, 1950 in Granville County, he was the son of the late Carrie Greenway Blackwell Carpenter and Otis Thomas Blackwell. Harold was a member of Peace’s Chapel Baptist Church and a former member of Mountain Creek Baptist Church. He retired as a lieutenant with the Granville County Sheriff’s Department and also was a retired truck driver.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 8, 2026 at 11:00 A.M. at Peace’s Chapel Baptist Church by Rev. Scott Downs and Rev. Johnny Yount. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Harold is survived by his wife, Dorothy Slaughter Blackwell of the home; his step-brothers, Danny Carpenter and wife, Phyllis and Tim Carpenter and wife, Ann; and his nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Bruce Douglas Blackwell.

The family will receive friends following the service in the fellowship hall of Peace’s Chapel Baptist Church.

Serving as pallbearers will be Kirk Slaughter, Jody Cox, Jaron Cox, Charles Noblin, Jr., Bailey Barker and Larry Cole.
