Harold Osborne Currin, age82, a resident of 1002 Shirley Drive, died Thursday, March 24, 2011 at Duke University Medical Center.Born on May 15, 1928 in Granville County, he was the son of the late James Frank Currin and Ruby Zion Currin Currin.Mr. Currin retired after twenty-seven years and a route salesman for Flowers Baking Company and nineteen years as owner and operator of Currin Greenhouses.
He was a long time member of West End Baptist Church where he was a member of the Furman Cothran Sunday School Class, a former Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, Youth baseball coach, Mens softball coach, and a Royal Ambassador Leader.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 3:00 pm at West End Baptist Church by the Rev. Ralph McGowan.Burial will follow in the Tabbs Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Granville County.
He is survived by his wife, Josephine Brummitt Currin of the home; one daughter, Rita Currin Wilson of Kittrell; two sons, Michael O. Currin of Littleton and Dave H. Currin of Henderson; five grandchildren; one step grandchild; two great grandsons; one sister, Page Currin Daniel of Creedmoor; and one brother, Weldon Poe Currin of Creedmoor.He was preceded in death by three brothers,Rowland Currin,James Willard "Bill" Currin, and Frank Nelson Currin.
The family will receive friends Saturday night from 7:00 until 8:30 pm at J. M. White Funeral home.At other times they will be at the home at 1002 Shirley Drive.
Serving as honorary pall bearers will be members of the Furman Cothran Sunday School Class.
Memorial contributions may be made to West End Baptist Church, 619 Dabney Drive, Henderson, NC27536.
