HENDERSON- Harold Walker “Hal” Finch, 69, passed away peacefully Friday, July 1, 2022 at his home. Born January 23, 1953 in Bexar County, TX, he was the son of the late Charles Walker Finch and Anna Leigh Hicks Finch. Hal moved with his parents back to Henderson, NC when he was three years old and attended First United Methodist Church where he became a lifelong member serving the Lord faithfully in his stewardship. Hal was also a proud member of the last graduating class of Henderson High School and furthered his education at East Carolina University where he was a member of Pi Lambda Phi fraternity. Shortly after leaving Greenville, Hal took a job working for Rose’s Stores and quickly rose through the ranks to achieve the title of Assistant Buyer and ended his eighteen year career with the company as a Buyer. During his adult years Hal made a decision to attend Vance Granville Community College at night and attain his Associate’s Degree in Microcomputer Systems Technology. Hal began a second career in the propane industry and ultimately retired as the General Manager from AAA Gas and Appliance Company in March, 2021. Hal was a good man with a quick wit who loved the Lord and his family. When he wasn’t spending time with his family, he could be found on a golf course somewhere chasing that little white ball. Hal was an avid golfer who loved to play in the Men’s League at Henderson Country Club where he gained many life-long friends. One of Hal’s favorite times of the year was when he would take his family to Myrtle Beach, SC for their annual beach trip. He loved watching his children and grandchildren play in the sand and would sit under the umbrella with his wife Deborah listening to the waves and his favorite beach music. Hal is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Deborah Whaley Finch of the home, his son, John Walker Finch and wife, Jamie, his daughter, Deborah Leigh Finch Holtzman, and husband Kyle, all of Henderson, and four grandchildren, Logan Walker Finch, Kyleigh Grace Holtzman, Anna Kate Finch, and Carley Anne Holtzman.
