HENDERSON- Harold Benjamin Bill Pierce, age 81, a resident of 85 Crowder Court, died January 19, 2012 at his home after a courageous battle with cancer.Born in Appomattox, Virginia on April 30, 1931, he was the son of the late J.T. Pierce and Margaret Franklin Pierce.He was a loving and devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.He was met in Heaven by his beloved wife of sixty years, Florence Layne Pierce.Bill was the owner and operator of Pierce Auto Parts for twenty-eight years.He was a member of Blessed Hope Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, at 2:00 PM at Blessed Hope Baptist Church by the Rev. Donnie Perkinson.He will then be laid to rest beside his wife at Sunset Gardens.
Mr. Pierce is survived by one son, H. B. Pierce, Jr. of Henderson; two daughters, Ellen Lee of the home and Frances Fields and husband, Ray of Henderson; four grandchildren, Kevin Long
and wife, Lizzie Long , Steven Long and wife, Aleshia Long, of Henderson, Lori Pierce of the home, and Benjamin Pierce, III of Henderson.Six great grandchildren, Christopher, Matthew, Caitlyn, Jonathan, Justin, and Blake Long; one brother, Thomas Pierce and wife, Virginia of Henderson.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Florence Layne Pierce; a sister, Bet Chappell; and a grandchild, Melissa Ann Lee.
The family will receive friends Saturday night from 7:00 until 8:30 PM at J. M. White Funeral Home.At other times they will be at the home at 85 Crowder Court.
Serving as active pall bearers will be Ronald Pittman, Dickie Taylor, Scott Fields, Craig Fields, Brady Maddox, Robert Maddox, and David Beckwith.
The family wishes to express thanks and heartfelt gratitude to the Staff of United Hospice, especially to the nurses, Donie Magee, RN and Jackie Mbah, RN.
