Henderson- Harriet Jackson Gupton, age 79, a resident of 1328 Pine Street, died Monday, January 27, 2014 at Maria Parham Medical Center.Born on August 18, 1934 in Harnett County she was the daughter of the late Charles W. Jackson and Lillie Norris Jackson and the widow of Bruce Allen Gupton.She was a retired employee of Continental Hosiery. Mrs. Gupton also formerly taught Arts and Crafts at Vance Granville Community College and the Vance County Senior Center, and was a member of North Henderson Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 1, 2014 at 11 am by Rev. Brent Kasey. Burial will follow at Sunset Gardens.
Mrs. Gupton is survived by two sons, Henry Lee Gupton and wife Madge, and Steven Jay Gupton and wife Kimberly all of Henderson; one brother, Leslie J. Jackson of Newton, NC; and three grandchildren, Emily Gupton, Gregory Gupton and Madison Gupton.
In addition to her parents and her husband she was preceded in death by two brothers, Charlie W. Buddy Jackson and Fred W. Jackson; a sister, Jessie J. Marshall; and a grandson, Harrison Lee Gupton.
The family will receive friends Friday evening from 7 pm till 8:30 pm at J.M. White Funeral Home.At other times they will be at the home of Henry and Madge Gupton, 392 Heartland Lane, Henderson, NC 27537.
Serving as active pall bearers will be Walter Harris, Mickey Jackson, Wallace Harris, Ronnie Thompson, Michael Jackson, Steve Jackson, and Robbie Jackson.
