HENDERSON- Mr. Harry Mitchell Collins, age 92, a resident of 26 Lake Road, Henderson died Friday, June 26, 2015 at a local nursing home.Born on May 5, 1923 in Aiken, SC he was the son of the late Joseph Valentine Collins and Ida Sawyer Collins.
He was retired from Barclays American Credit where he worked as a manager.He was a member of The Church of the Holy Innocents and Henderson Lions Club.Mr. Collins was in charge of the Christmas parades in downtown Henderson for thirteen years in the 70s and early 80s.
Memorial services will be held Monday at 7:30 PM by Father Don Lowery in the chapel of J.M. White Funeral Home.
Mr. Collins is survived by his wife, Barbara Bishop Collins of the home; a son, Owen Mitchell Collins and wife Rachel of Henderson; and a granddaughter, Ashley Macon Pearsall.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Marianne K. Collins.
The family will receive friends on Monday from 6:00 PM till 7:30 PM at J. M. White Funeral Home.At other times they will be at the home of Mitch Collins, 408 Aycock Road, Henderson, NC 27537.
