Hartwell Reed Harp

Hartwell Reed Harp, age 73, a resident of 535 S. Cooper Drive, died Friday, March 11, 2016, at Rex Hospital in Raleigh.Born in Vance County on July 3, 1942, he was the son of the late Genie Marvin Harp and Jamie Grissom Harp.Hartwell was retired from Roses Warehouse and was a member of Fuller Chapel United Church of Christ.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 pm at South Henderson Pentecostal Holiness Church by the Rev. Frank Sossamon.Burial will follow in the Fuller Chapel United Church of Christ Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Annie King Harp of the home; one son, Bruce Harp (Laurie) of Henderson; one daughter, Darlene H. Boone of Henderson; one sister, Edna H. King of Henderson; one brother, Alton Harp of Henderson; four grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Monday from 12:30 until 2 pm at South Henderson Pentecostal Holiness.At other times they will be at the home of Bruce and Laurie Harp at 29 Abbott Road.
Serving as active pall bearers will be Justin Harp, Josh Sizemore, Keith Boone, Steve Wiggins, Ronnie Currin, Chuck Ramsey, Ludie Creech, and Paul Manning.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to the Hartwell Harp Burial Fund, c/o J. M. White Funeral Home, 60 Zeb Robinson Road, Henderson, NC27536.
