HENDERSON-Helen Manly Flannagan, 90, a resident of Coventry House, died Monday, August 17, 2020, at Louisburg Nursing Center.Born on May 7, 1930 in Mecklenburg County, she was the daughter of the late Murphy M. Manly and Ruby Broadway Manly, and was the widow of Stephen Goodyear Flannagan.Helen was a member of First Baptist Church and was a former instructor at Vance Granville Community College.
A private family memorial service will be held Wednesday, September 2, 2020 in the First Baptist Church Memorial Garden by Rev. Mark Hopper.
She is survived by one daughter, Celia F. Adams of Charlotte Court House, VA; two granddaughters, Robyn Adams of Charlotte Court House, VA and Kelly G. Hudgins of Raleigh; one grandson, Ben L. Gatewood of Chesapeake, VA; and two great-grandchildren, Eleana Adams-Jones and Isaac Hudgins.In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Beth F. Gatewood; two sisters, Dorothy "Dottie" Tripp and Rosalie "Ig" Burnett; and her son-in-law, Chip Adams.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, PO Box 75, Henderson, NC 27536.
