Helen Knott Franklin

DURHAM- Helen Knott Franklin, 98, formerly of Brookston Road, Henderson, died Tuesday, May 2, 2023 at SECU Jim and Betty Bryan Hospice Home of UNC Health Care. Born August 19, 1924 in Granville County, she was the daughter of the late Mary Stovall Knott and John Henry Knott, and was the widow of George Arthur “G.A.” Franklin, Jr. She was a nurse anesthetist working in various hospitals in NC and VA including Maria Parham Hospital. Helen was an avid gardener and enjoyed traveling. Her angelic personality was apparent to everyone she encountered both professionally and personally. She was a member of Clearview Church and the former Tabernacle Church. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, May 9, 2023 at 2:00 P.M. at Clearview Church by Rev. Abidan Shah. Burial will follow in Middleburg Cemetery. Mrs. Franklin is survived by two daughters, Mary Ann Franklin (Will) of NY and Myra Franklin (John) of Durham, with whom she resided; five grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Sue Franklin Jackson; a sister, Page Knott; and a brother, William Knott. The family will receive friends prior to the service on Tuesday from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. at Clearview Church.
