HENDERSON-Helen Autrey Pitman, age 88, a resident of 820 Coble Blvd., died Sunday, June 20, 2010, at Maria Parham Medical Center.Born in Mitchell County on December 21, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Josh Autrey and China Willis Autrey.She was retired from Burlington Industries and was a member of Tungsten Baptist Church where she was a member of the Senior Adult Sunday School Class.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11:00 am at Tungsten Baptist Church by the Rev. Sam Brewer and the Rev. Robert Greene.Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
She is survived by five daughters, Roma P. Jones and Evelyn P. Dickerson of Henderson, Betty P. Hite and Pat P. Hite of Clarksville, Virginia, and Beverly P. Candler of Yuma, Arizona; one son, David Pitman of Henderson; one sister, Ruth A. Burleson of Spruce Spine, one brother, Dan Autrey of Candler, NC; nine grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her husband; the Rev. Lee Jim Pitman; and one grandchild.
The family will received Monday night from 7:00 until 8:30 pmJ. M. White Funeral Home.At other times they will be at the home of Evelyn Dickerson at 104 Marsha Avenue.
Serving as active pall bearers will be Eddie Hite, David Pitman, Jr., Jeffrey Pitman, Mike Hite, Ricky Harris, Leroy Beam, Howard Champion, Richard Beam, and Joe Don Cooper.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Tungsten Baptist Church, PO Box 703, Henderson, NC.
Arrangements are by J. M. White Funeral Home.
