ROANOKE, VA.-Helen Elizabeth Teiser Johnson, age 86, passed away on August 17, 2010.Born on August 4, 1924 in Henderson, NC, she was the daughter of the late Erma Geneva Barnes Teiser and Eugene McKinley Teiser.
Helen graduated from Henderson High School and Peace College in Raleigh, NC.She was a loving mother and grandmother, and a joy to all who knew her.She loved living at the beach, traveling, and managing a ladies clothing business.She was well known as an excellent bridge player and played competitively for several years.
She is survived by a daughter, Mittie Hambrick and husband, PD of Union Hall, Virginia; two sons, Carl Johnson and wife, Ellen of Roanoke, Virginia and Rick Johnson of Lynchburg, Virginia; three grandchildren, Cameron Hambrick Blankenship and husband, Cody, Perry Hambrick, and Brian Hambrick; one great grandchild, Shelby Blankenship; one sister, Louise Teiser Baker of Idaho Falls, Idaho; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother and sister-in-law, Gene and Mary Gene Teiser; and her brother-in-law, Orval Baker.
A memorial service will be held for the family in the Garden of The Church Of The Holy Innocents in Henderson, NC.The family will receive friends in the Fellowship Hall of The Church Of The Holy Innocents on Sunday, August 22, 2010 from 2:30 pm until 3:30 pm..
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Church Of The Holy Innocents, 210 Chestnut Street, Henderson, North Carolina 27536 or Rocky Mount United Methodist Church, 35 N Main Street, Rocky Mount, Virginia24151.
