Clarksville, VA-Henry Linward Green of 961 Epps Fork Road, Clarksville, passed away on Friday, July 13, 2018 at Duke University Hospital, Durham, NC.He was born on August 31, 1931 in Mecklenburg County, VA to the late Henry Hunter Green and Bertha Moody Green. Mr. Green was a lifelong member of Rock Spring Baptist Church where he served in many capacities.He faithfully served the Townsville Fire Department for many years and also was a past member of the Townsville Lions Club.Mr. Green has also served as a board member for the Farm Service Agency, Boydton, VA and the Farm Bureau of Mecklenburg County, VA.He proudly served his country in the United States Army, Panama Canal Zone, 1954-1956. Mr. Green loved his community and was a friend to all.He was a farmer his entire life and enjoyed tending the land and raising cattle.He also owned and operated Epps Fork Farm Supply with his son in law, Cliff.
A celebration of life service will be held on Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at 11:00 am at Rock Spring Baptist Church, Townsville, NC by the Rev. Gary Brummitt. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery.
Mr. Green is survived by his daughter, Karen Green Futrell and husband, Cliff of Nashville, NC; two grandchildren Megan Unrue and husband, Aaron of Rocky Mount, NC, and Will Futrell and wife, Jessica of Smithfield, VA; great grandchildren, Henry Unrue and Emerson Futrell; two brothers Lawrence Ray Green and wife, Sylvia of South Hill, VA andRalph Green and wife, Carol of Townsville, NC; three sisters, Marjorie Chandler of Moneta, VA, Catherine Tedder and husband, Lee of Wadsworth, OH, and Linda Morgan and husband, Connie, of Chesterfield, VA. Mr. Green is also survived by many nieces and nephews.He was predeceased by his wife of 64 years Mary Reese Green, a sister, Jean Callahan and a brother, John Green.
The family will receive friends on Monday evening, July 16, 2018 from 7 until 8:30 pm at J.M. White Funeral Home, Henderson, NC. At other times they will be at the home beginning Sunday afternoon.
Serving as pall bearers will be William Futrell, Aaron Unrue, Dwight Green, Bryant Green, Pearson Jones, Jr., Darren Small, Chuck Tillotson, and Clifton Capps.
The family would like to thank the health care team at Duke University Hospitals Cardiac Intensive Care Unit who provided the most caring and dedicated service to him and his family.
