Hilda Glover Poythress

HENDERSON- Hilda Glover Poythress, 96, a resident of Poplar Creek Road, passed away Tuesday, June 16, 2026 at her home. Born October 16, 1929 in Vance County, she was the daughter of the late James Buell Glover and Maude Wells Glover and was the widow of Bruce Allen Poythress. She attended Poplar Creek Baptist Church until her health declined. Hilda loved being a homemaker and was devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great great grandmother.

A private service will be held by the family.

She is survived by two daughters, Rozelyn Dunkley (Donnie) and Lisa Jackson (James) all of Henderson; six grandchildren, Jennifer Elizabeth Compton (Hal), Justin Dunkley (Lisa), Jennifer Carroll Guerry (Tim), Dana Murphy (Sherwin), Morgan Stainback (Trey), and Alex Hester (Viana); seven great grandchildren, Trey Compton (Peyton), Lauren Compton, Alana Guerry, Emily Guerry, Brennan Murphy, Cate Murphy, and Nicole Short (Wil); and one great great granddaughter, Olivia Rose Short.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Adell Wheless, Margaret Stevenson, and Betty Padgett; and brother, Seth Glover.
