HENDERSON- Hillman Barnes Floyd, 86, of Thorpe Street, died Sunday, March 27, 2022 at Maria Parham Health. Born November 10, 1935 in Vance County, he was the son of the late Ellen Barnes Harris Floyd and William Edward Floyd. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and was retired from NAPA/Standard Auto Parts. Hillman was a member of Rehoboth United Methodist Church. He was a dedicated family man and friend who loved those in his life and was always ready to help in any way he could. He never met a stranger and was always ready to help anyone in need. He loved his family, especially his three grandchildren who he treasured deeply. Hillman loved pond fishing for bream and was a true patriot who loved his country. He will be greatly missed by all who loved him. A graveside funeral service with military honors will be held Saturday, April 2, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Sunset Gardens by Rev. Neil Woodlief. He is survived by his wife, Frances Wade Floyd of the home; a son, Scott Floyd (Shauna) of Wake Forest; a son-in-law, John B. Hardy, III of Oxford; three grandchildren, Kayla Floyd, Benjamin Wade Hardy (Jessica), and Julia Hardy Christensen (Christopher); and a sister, Julia F. Williams of Waynesville. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Ellen Floyd Hardy. The family will receive friends following the service at Sunset Gardens on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
