HENDERSON- Horace Edward “Eddie” Jackson, 81, of the Cokesbury Community, died Saturday, August 9, 2025 at a local health and rehabilitation center. Born January 20, 1944 in Vance County, he was the son of the late Horace Thomas Jackson and Elizabeth Shearin Jackson and was the widower of Diane Clark Jackson. He retired as Battalion Chief from the Henderson Fire Department after 43 years of service. He was a decorated firefighter and was awarded numerous honors including “Fireman of the Year.” Eddie also was the owner and operator of “Eddie’s Repair Shop” where he serviced and repaired vehicles for many years. A member of Browns Baptist Church, Eddie formerly served as a deacon and shared his many musical talents during worship services. He also was a member of the National Guard. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 13, 2025 at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of J. M. White Funeral Home by Rev. Jake Roberson. Burial with fireman’s honors will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. He is survived by his daughter, Teresa “Terry” Hawks and husband, Allen of Mebane; two grandchildren, Hannah Hawks and Lucas Hawks and his sister, Rebekah “Becky” Ranes. In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by a sister, Gwen Dorsey. The family will receive friends prior to the service on Wednesday from 12:30 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. at J.M. White Funeral Home on Wednesday. Serving as active pallbearers will be members of the Henderson Fire Department Honor Guard. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Henderson Fire Department retirees. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Browns Baptist Church, C/O Jean Bowen, 136 Bowen Road, Norlina, NC 27563. < <
