Ida Walker Cranz

Henderson- Ida Thames Walker Cranz died Wednesday, May 29, 2024 at Atlantic Beach, NC. She was the daughter of Henry Ajax Walker and Grace Wooten Walker (both deceased) of Kinston. She was preceded in death by her husband Richard Lee Cranz, her brother Henry Ajax Walker III, and her sister Grace Walker Sanders. She is survived by her three children Richard Lee Cranz of Saint Simons Island, GA, John Walker Cranz of Henderson, William Robinson Cranz and wife Katherine of Raleigh, and granddaughters Thames Edythe Cranz, Keturah Anne Cranz, and Katherine Walker Cranz. She is also survived by her sister Nancy Walker Marchal of Williamsport, PA and many nieces and nephews. She married on July 11, 1964 to Ricky until his death in 1995. She spent 13 years in Charlotte and then moved to Henderson in 1977. Ida was an active member of The Church of the Holy Innocents. She enjoyed riding her beloved horses Casey and Springer, playing duplicate bridge, Hershey’s chocolate and doting on her many dogs and cats. A memorial service is scheduled for June 29th at 2:00 p.m. at The Church of the Holy Innocents located at 210 South Chestnut Street, Henderson, NC 27536. The family will receive friends at the home after the service. Memorials may be made to The Church of the Holy Innocents or to your charity of choice.
