HENDERSON- Ida Buchanan Pittman, 77, died Thursday, May 29, 2014 at a local nursing home.Born on September 18, 1936 in Mitchell County she was the daughter of the late Carl Buchanan and Nittie Biddix Buchanan.She was a member of Tungsten Mine Baptist Church and was a homemaker.
A memorial service will be held Saturday at 2:00PM at Middleburg Baptist Church by Rev. Sam Brewer.
Mrs. Pittman is survived by her husband, Clarence Pittman of Henderson; a daughter, Melanie Barker of Henderson; a son, Eddie Garland of Henderson; a brother, Ted Buchanan of Middleburg; a sister, Wilma Boone of Spruce Pine, NC; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sue Keeton; a grandson, John Nicholas Garland; a sister, Willie Lester; and two brothers, David Buchanan and Johnny Buchanan.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 PM till 2:00 PM in the fellowship hall of Middleburg Baptist Church.At other times they will be at the home of Eddie Garland, 1867 Bearpond Road, Henderson, NC 27537
