OXFORD- Ida Rose Nethery Blalock, 89, formerly of Yowland Road, died Wednesday, June 22, 2022 at Granville House. Born January 11, 1933 in Vance County, she was the daughter of the late Robert Lee Nethery and Mary Lee Nethery and was the widow of Ralph Thomas Blalock. She was a member of West End Baptist Church where she taught and was active in the Nelson Jenkins Sunday School Class. Ida worked many years as a legal secretary, she was also part owner and operator of Funspa Fitness Center for several years and retired from Century 21 Country Knolls Realty where she worked as a real estate agent. She was a longtime member of the Henderson Business and Professional Women’s group. Funeral Services will be held Sunday, June 26, 2022 at 3:00 PM at West End Baptist Church by Rev. Tim Burgess. Burial will follow in the New Sandy Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Mrs. Blalock is survived by her daughter, Denise B. Edwards (Billy) of Henderson; her son, Rusty Blalock of Henderson; three granddaughters, Leah Rose Edwards (Holly), Mary Edwards Barnes (Brandon) and Rebekah Lee Edwards; two nephews, Robbie Nethery and Todd Nethery; her cousin, JoAnn Crocker DeGailer (Louie) of Delaware; and her dear, lifelong friend, June Blanks. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Robert “Bobby” Lee Nethery, Jr. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM at West End Baptist Church and at other times at the home of Denise and Billy Edwards, 1931 Weldon’s Mill Road, Henderson, NC 27537. Serving as pallbearers will be Jerry A. Ayscue, Brandon Barnes, Jason Cutts, Alan Gill, D.Y. Hoyle, and Tramaeus Reliford. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to St.Jude Children's Hospital, a charity that was very close to Ida’s heart.
