Ila Constance Medlin

HENDERSON-Ila Constance McIver Long Medlin, age 78, a resident of Kerr Lake Nursing & Rehab, died Thursday, October 11, 2012.Born in Granville County on July 12, 1934, she was the daughter of the late John Ralph McIver and Lola Harris McIver. .
Mrs. Medlin was a retired nurse, a member of West End Baptist Church, and a former member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Veterans Of Foreign Wars.She enjoyed making handmade gifts for her family and also enjoyed gardening and cooking.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2:00 PM at West End Baptist Church by the Rev. Ralph McGowan.Entombment will follow in Sunset Gardens.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Glennwood Earl Long and Henry Calvin Medlin, and is survived by three daughters, Diane Dennis and husband, Bill, Carol Pulley and husband, W.T., of Henderson and Sharon McInnis of Shelby; one son, Tim Long and wife, Lisa of Henderson; one sister, Roschelle Hilliard of Henderson; twelve grandchildren who were the love of her life, Meredith Hodges and husband, Randy, Mack Dennis and wife, Erin, Steven Dennis, Will Pulley and wife, Jenna, Meghan Rehnborg and husband, Steve, Rachel McInnis, Scott Dennis, Glenn Long, Peter McInnis, Zachary McInnis, Kristin Long, and Austin McInnis; and three great grandchildren, Skylar Hodges, Palmer Hodges, and Liam Dennis.In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Margie Oakley and Elizabeth "Lib" Hester; and one brother, John McIver.
The family will receive friends Saturday night from 7:00 until 8:30 PM at J. M. White Funeral Home.At other times they will be at the home of Diane and Bill Dennis at 408 Beechwood Trail.
Serving as active pall bearers will be her grandsons, Mack Dennis, Steven Dennis, Scott Dennis, Will Pulley, Peter McInnis, Zach McInnis, Austin McInnis, Glenn Long, Randy Hodges, and Steve Rehnborg.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the West End Baptist Church Bus Fund, 619 Dabney Drive, Henderson, NC27536.
