Irene Walker Holmes

HENDERSON-Irene Walker Holmes, age 88, a former resident of 1525 Old Epsom Road, died Wednesday, January 18, 2012, in a local nursing home.Born on July 10, 1923 in Vance County, she was the daughter of the late James Anderson Walker and Pirdie Currin Walker Dillard.Mrs. Holmes was retired from Harriett & Henderson Yarns, Inc. and was of the Christian Faith.She was a devoted and loving grandmother.
A graveside service will be held Saturday at 11:00 AM at Sunset Gardens by the Rev. Tony Broom.
She is survived by son, Jimmie T. Holmes and wife, Janie of Henderson; two sisters, Oshie D. Jackson and Frances D. Gipson of Henderson; two grandsons, Scott Holmes and wife Terri, and Thurston Holmes; and one great grandson, Dustin Holmes.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her step father, Cleveland Dillard; her husband, James Thurston Holmes; five brothers, Edmond D. Walker, Jimmy Walker, Warren P. Walker, William F. Dillard, and Charles H. Dillard; and two sisters, Eva W. Robinson and Annie Mae Aycock.
The family will receive friends following the service at Sunset Gardens. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to South Henderson Pentecostal Holiness Church Children’s Ministry, 925 Americal Road, Henderson, N. C.27536.
