HENDERSON-Irma Lee Gregory Ligon Montgomery, age 82, a resident of 411 S. Lynnbank Road, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, November 19, 2013, at her home.Born in Cincinnati, Ohio on January 21, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Ingram Park Gregory andRuby Christelle Gregory, and was raised by her maternal grandmother, Rosie Lee Towe.She attended the Cincinnati public school system and lived in the Cincinnati Ohio area until 1971 when she and her family moved to Durham, NC and lived in the Parkwood Community until her husbands retirement.The couple moved to Henderson, NC where she lived until the Lord called her home.She was forgiven of her sins by Jesus Christ in August 1958 at Landmark Baptist Temple in Cincinnati, Ohio, and have enjoyed her fellowship with her Lord and Savior ever since.
Mrs. Montgomery was a homemaker and attended Raleigh Road Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 12 noon in the J. M. White Funeral Home Chapel.
Graveside services will be held Saturday at 2 pm at Oak Grove Memorial Park in Durham.
She is survived by her husband of 46 years, James Walter Montgomery of the home; one daughter, Kathleen Ann Ligon and financee, Julius Walters of Cincinnati, Ohio; three sons, Michael Ray Ligon of Henderson, Steven Carr Ligon and wife, Susan of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Raymond Lee Ligon and girl friend, Mary Ann Boshart of Durham; a step daughter, Randi Boyle of Cincinnati, OH; a foster daughter, Tammy Cates of Burlington; 18 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and many friends.She was preceded in death by one daughter, Romana Lee Ligon; one son, David Lee Ligon; one sister, Yvonne Van Vleek; one brother, William Hicks; and a step-son, Jeffrey Montgomery.
The family will receive friends Saturday prior to the service from 10:30 until 12 noon at J. M. White Funeral Home.
Arrangements are by J. M. White Funeral Home.
