Joseph Glenn McDonald, age 70, a resident of 190 Hillandale Drive, died Saturday, April 09, 2016, at Maria Parham Medical Center.Born on January 20, 1946 in St. Pauls, NC, he was the son of the late James Boyce McDonald and Mary Maxine Stephens McDonald.Glenn attended Chowan College and was a Veteran of the United States Air Force serving during the Vietnam War.He was a member of Island Creek Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and Director of the Baptist Men. He was a past President of the Townsville Lions Club and was the Lion of The Year in 2014.He was a former manager of Ridgeway Chip Mill and retired in 2012 from International Paper in Warren County.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11:00 AM at Island Creek Baptist Church by the Rev. J. Marshall Neathery.Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Diana Darr McDonald of the home; one daughter, Jaime McDonald McNeill and husband, David of Greenville, NC; one granddaughter, Rachel McNeill; four brothers, Ronald L. McDonald, Sr. and wife, Viola of St. Pauls, James B. McDonald and wife, Clara of New Bern, William McDonald of Kinston, and Wayne McDonald of Lumberton; sisters-in-law, Carolyn McDonald of St. Pauls, Shirley Rubenstein of Mt. Laurel, NJ, Carol King and husband, Ed and Linda Steinke and husband, Dan all of Oklahoma City, OK; his brother-in-law, Robert Scocca and wife, Darlene of Burlington, NJ; and numerous nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother Paul S. McDonald.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the Fellowship Hall at Island Creek Baptist Church.At other times they will be at the home.
Serving as active pall bearers will be Ronnie Perkinson, Johnny Riggan, John Rice, James Overby, Roy Tippett, and Bob Morgan.
Serving as honorary pall bearers will be members of the Townsville Lions Club.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the N C Baptist Men, PO Box 1107, Cary, NC27512 or The Rev. J. Marshall Neathery Divinity School Endowed Scholarship Fund of Campbell University, c/o Campbell University Divinity School, PO Box 116, Buies Creek, NC 27506.
