Jack Alston Abbott

HENDERSON - Jack Alston Abbott, age 90, passed away Sunday January 12, 2025, at his home on Brookston Road, surrounded by his wife and children. Born May 4, 1934 in Warren County, he was the son of the late John Robert Abbott and Ellen Jones Abbott. Jack was a retired Veteran after serving many years in the United States Air Force. He is survived by his wife, Diane Pierce Abbott; three daughters, Debra Abbott Williamson (Mike) of Henderson, Karen Abbott Dingus (Shane) of Tennessee, and Michelle Baldwin McMurray (Greg) of Henderson; three sons, Stephen Alston Abbott (Ruth) of Gastonia, Robert Anthony Abbott (Frances) of Raleigh, Kenneth Wayne Abbott of Henderson; his former wife, Marjorie Abbott Sullivan of Oxford; and a daughter-in-law, JoAnn Abbott of Atlanta. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Dennis Michael Abbott. Jack most enjoyed spending time with his 14 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter. A small family service will be planned at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Amedisys Hospice Care, 3320 US 1 Hwy Ste B, Franklinton, NC 27525.
