Date of Service: Tuesday, October 19, 2021 Time of Service: 8:00 PM Jackie Wayne Peoples, Sr. 79, a resident of Henderson, died Saturday, October 16, 2021, at The Citadel Winston-Salem. Born on September 6, 1942 in Vance County, he was the son of the late Elijah Lee Peoples and Myrtle Perry Peoples, and was the widower of Patricia "Pat" Davis Peoples. Jackie was a retired Maintenance Supervisor at the Leslie Perry Memorial Library and was formerly employed with Pine State Creamery. He was a member of South Henderson Pentecostal Holiness Church where he was a member of All For Him Sunday School Class, member of Instruments Of Shining Hope Ministry, and served as an usher. Funeral services will be held Tuesday night at 8:00 PM at South Henderson Pentecostal Holiness Church by the Rev. David Barnett. Graveside funeral services will be Wednesday at 2:00 PM at Sunset Gardens. He is survived by four sons, Jackie Wayne Peoples, Jr. (Darlene) of Epsom, Kirk Peoples, Matthew Scott Peoples (Sara) of Henderson, and Tyson Peoples (Paula) of Durham; two step-sons, Gene Thompson of Raleigh and Andy Lamb of Dalton, GA; one step-daughter, Vonita Boone of Henderson; one sister, Donna Fogleman (Frank) of Henderson; 22 grandchildren; two great grandchildren. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers Tommy Peoples, Sr. and Dennie Ray Peoples, Sr.; three sisters, Margie Hoyle, Peggy Clark and Emma Lee; and two grandchildren, Michael Tyson Peoples, Jr. and Samuel David Peoples. The family will receive friends prior to the service on Tuesday night from 6:30 until 8:00 PM at South Henderson Pentecostal Holiness Church. At other times they will be at the home of Donna and Frank Fogleman at 180 Franklin Lane, Henderson, NC. Serving as active pall bearers will be Bruce Harp, Randy Hoyle, Greg Tapson, Eddie Lee, Roger Clark, and Kenny Davis. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to South Henderson Pentecostal Holiness Church Instruments Of Shining Hope Ministry, 905 Americal Road, Henderson, NC 27537; American Cancer Society, PO Box 11796, Charlotte, NC 28220; Alzheimer’s Association Eastern North Carolina Chapter, 5171 Glenwood Avenue - Suite 101, Raleigh, NC 21612; or to the American Heart Association, 3015 S. Memorial Drive, Greenville, NC 27834. Those attending the service are to abide by CDC guidelines by wearing appropriate face coverings and practice social distancing.
