HENDERSON-James Allen Clark, 85, a resident of 1264 Oakridge Avenue, died peacefully at his home on Saturday, April 28, 2018, surrounded by his loving family.Born on December 14, 1932 in Vance County, he was the son of the late Samuel David Clark and Sallie Renn Clark.
James was a lifelong member of City Road United Methodist Church.He served in the North Carolina National Guard for 35 years retiring as Sgt. First Class, and was retired from the United Postal Service with 35 years of service.While employed with the Postal Service, he received the Million Mile Award from the National Safety Council for no incidents.He was a member of the Henderson Civitan Club, formerly coached pewee football, and was active in other community activities.
Graveside services will be held Monday, April 30, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Elmwood Cemetery by the Rev. Cleveland Harrison and Chaplain Alan Murphy
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Helen West Clark of the home; three daughters, Pam C. Hughes and husband, Lee, and Kim C. Blalock all of Henderson, and Dianne C. Roberts and husband, Charles of Summerfield;seven grandchildren, Austin Blalock, Shelby Roberts, Callie Roberts, Anthony Wade (Jennifer), Chad Wade (Katie) Heather Wade, and Tiffany Isgett (Matt); and five great grandchildren.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Dennis Allen Clark; and one brother, Samuel David Clark, Jr.
The family will receive friends at the home.
