James Edward Gill, Jr.

Henderson – James Edward Gill, Jr., 85, of Warrenton Rd, died Friday, January 2, 2026 at Kerr Lake Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born on February 11, 1940 in Vance County, he was the son of the late Annie Odom Gill and James Edward Gill, Sr, and was the widower of Cara Burrows Gill. Mr. Gill was a member at Carey Baptist Church and formerly a tobacco and sweet potato farmer.

A graveside service will be held Tuesday, January 6, 2026 at 2:00 PM at Carey Baptist Church Cemetery conducted by the Rev. Michael Mahan.

The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery.

He is survived by one daughter, Donna Ann Gill, of Henderson; two sons, Allen Todd Gill, of Henderson and Gregory Louis Gill, of Waveland, MS; two sisters, Faye Gill Peoples and Jean Gill Gupton both of Henderson; two granddaughters, Kaitlyn Bailey Gill and Gabrielle Alexis Gill; three grandsons, David Hunter Gill, Alexander Edward Gill, and Gregory “Greg” Gill; and two great grandchildren, Camille Gill, and Connor Gill.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Whitney Gill Hines; and one brother, Steven Scott Gill.

Serving as honorary pallbearers will be, Lee Burrows, Tom Peoples, Dale Fleming, Randy Hoyle, Bill Gardner, Thomas Shaw, Billie Hart, Wayne Renn.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Carey Baptist Church, PO Box 637, Henderson, NC 27536.
