HENDERSON-James Axam Hall, Jr., 82, a resident of 1751 Spring Valley Lake Road, died Wednesday, July 19, 2017, at his home.Born on June 14, 1935 in Birchardville, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late James A. Hall, Sr. and Lou Shelp Hall.
Mr. Hall was a Veteran of the United States Army.He was a Master Mason, a former member of the Henderson Shrine Club of which he served as President in 1983, and was a member of the Amran Temple in Raleigh.He was a retired machinist from Revlon and was a former owner and operator of Halls Garage, and a former Plant Manager of Systems Manufacturing Co. in Henderson.Mr. Hall attended Flat Rock United Methodist Church.
Graveside funeral services with Military Honors will be held Sunday at 4 pm at Sunset Gardens by the Rev. Para Drake.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Frances Flynn Hall; two daughters, Louella H. Smith and husband, Thomas C. Smith of Henderson, and Elizabeth H. Bunch and husband, Raymond E. Bunch of Englewood, Ohio; one son, James A. Hall, IV and wife Sherry of Oxford; eight grandchildren, Cole A. Smith, Amanda S. Clary, Cody R. Smith and wife Ashley, Samantha J. Bunch, Anthony R. Bunch, James A. Hall, V. and wife, Annette Ryan-Hall, Timothy O. Hall, and Clay A. Hall; six great grandchildren, David C. Clary, Alexander C. Smith, Gabriel R. Smith, Carli E. Bunch, Chad Ralston, and Phelan Sisk; and four sisters-in-law, Ruth Button, Pauline Stevens, Jean Birtch and Nina Richardson.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one great granddaughter, Freya P. Smith.
The family will receive friends Saturday night from 6 until 8 pm at J. M. White Funeral Home.At other times they will be at the home at 1751 Spring Valley Lake Road.
Serving as active pallbearers will be his grandsons, Cole Smith, Cody Smith, Timothy Hall, James Hall, V, Anthony Bunch, and Chris Abbott.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Brandon DeZarn, William Stancil,Clay Hall and Christopher Knott.
