OXFORD-James Henry Critcher, age 90, died Sunday,January 17, 2016, at Universal Health Care.Born on September 29, 1925 in Granville County, he was the son of the late Darius Cullom Critcher and Callie Hobgood Critcher, and was the widower of Kathleen Matthews Critcher.James was retired from the former Baird Hardware Store. He was a member of Tabbs Creek Baptist Church where he was a member of the Norflet Blackwell Sunday School Class and was a Deacon Emertius.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2PM at Tabbs Creek Baptist Church by the Rev Stan Jenkins and the Rev. Lemar Wheeler.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
He is survived by one daughter, Cathy C. Huggins and husband, Michael Huggins of Gastonia; one brother Darius C. Pete Critcher, Jr. and wife, Jean of Oxford; and his nieces Dana Brooks and Ashley Roberts.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 12:30 PM till 2PM in the fellowship hall of Tabbs Creek Baptist Church.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Tabbs Creek Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Alice Overton, 6537 Harold OBrien Road, Oxford, NC27565.
Serving as pallbearers will be Andy Roberts, Jim Brooks, Chuck Tillotson, Susan Tillotson, Morgan Morrow, and Mike Duke.
