James Donald Hunt, Sr.

HENDERSON-James Donald Hunt, Sr., age 83, a resident of 1506 Oakdale Circle, died Friday, August 19, 2011, at his home.Born in Vance County on February 26, 1928, he was the son of the late Dewey Lee Hunt and Clara Coleman Hunt.Mr. Hunt was a veteran of the United States Navy serving during World War II.He was formerly employed with Laurens Glass Plant, was self-employed, and a former employee of Dabney Drive Restaurant.He was a member of West End Baptist Church and attended South Henderson Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 3:00 pm at South Henderson Pentecostal Holiness Church by the Rev. Frank Sossamon.Burial will follow in Sunset Gardens.
He is survived by his wife, Louise Chris Ellis Hunt of the home; one son, James D. Jamie Hunt, Jr. and wife, Cindy of Henderson; three daughters, Laura Hunt Hedrick and husband, Carl , and Donna L. Hunt all of Henderson; and Phyllis Landreth and husband, Scotty of High Point; seven grandchildren, Christy Landreth, Kim Landreth, Jessica Carroll, James Landon Hunt, Richie Bentley, Tiffiny Bentley, and Ben Rush; and one great grandchild, Tyler Landreth.He was preceded in death by two brothers, Randall Hunt and George Dewey Hunt.
The family will receive friends Sunday night from 7:00 until 8:30 pm at J. M. White Funeral Home.At other times they will be at the home at 1506 Oakdale Circle.
Serving as active pall bearers will be Ray Pegram, Sr., Ken Upright, Dennis Edwards, Scott Hunt, Andy Roberson, and Larry Roberson.
