OXFORD-James Edward Overby, Jr., age 74, a resident of 507 Sunset Avenue, died Friday, August 11, 2017, at Duke Regional Hospital.Born in Richmond, Virginia on February 8, 1943, he was the son of the late James Edward Overby, Sr. and Martha McCauley Overby.He was a Biological Technician for the U. S. Department of Agriculture and was a member of New Horizon Baptist Church,
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 AM in the J. M. White Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Cam Ford.Burial will follow in Sunset Gardens.
He was a dedicated husband to his wife of 55 years, Patricia Slaughter Overby of the home; one son, James Edward Overby, III (Catherine) of Murray, Kentucky; one granddaughter, Sarah Catherine Overby; two grandsons, James Edward "Jacob" Overby, IV, and Daniel Joseph Overby; one sister; one brother; and also special in his life were Heather Brooks Wilson and Samuel Snipes.
The family will receive friends prior to the service on Tuesday from 9:30 until 10:45 at J. M. White Funeral Home.
Serving as active pall bearers will be Roger Oakley, Charles Bennett, Tom Cameron, Craig Wolff, Sam Snipes, and Mike Kinton.
