James "Rod" Rodrick Lewis

HENDERSON-James Rodrick Lewis, age 65, a resident of 844 High Street, died Friday, January 13, 2017 at Granville Medical Center.Born in Vance County on February 11, 1951, he was the son of the late James Robert Lewis and Nannie Odell Fitts Lewis.Rod was retired from Ardagh Group, formerly Laurens Glass Plant, and was a former member of Trinity Church Of God.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 pm at South Henderson Pentecostal Holiness Church by the Rev. Frank Sossamon and the Rev. Jeff Prewer.Burial will follow in Sunset Gardens.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Tucker Lewis of the home, one daughter, Michelle Lewis of Oxford; one son, Joel Lewis and wife, Kelli of Raleigh; two grandchildren, Joel Robert Lewis and Emily Carol Hobbs, who were PopPops "Buddy" and "Sweetheart"; and one sister, Loretta L. Williams of Henderson.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Raye Barker.
The family will receive friends Monday night from 7 until 8:30 pm at J. M. White Funeral Home.At other times they will be at the home.
Serving as active pall bearers will be Teddy Hoots, Stan Twisdale, Keith Pruitt, Joe Riggan, Phil Layne, and Ernie Robinson.
Serving as honorary pall bearers will be Willard Smith, Robert Ingle, Tommy Hicks, Mike Ewing. Ashton Young, Skeeter Garrett, Charles Moody, Larry Wright, Randy Pittillo, Shannon Scott, Kenneth Jones, Bert Crews, Billy Dickerson, and Frank Fox.
Flowers will be accepted and also memorial contributions may be made to The Wounded Warrior Project, 4899 Belfort Road, Suite 300, Jacksonville, FL 32256, St. Judes Children Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN38105, or the American Cancer Society, 8300 Health Park, Suite 10, Raleigh, NC27615.
