James Rodgers Gupton, age 74, a resident of 838 Anderson Creek Rd., died Saturday March 5, 2011 at his home. Born April 7, 1936 in Vance Co., he was the son of the late Nannie Reams Gupton and Lewis J. Gupton. He was the owner and operator of the former Wise Truck Stop and was the widower of Barbara Mitchell Gupton.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11:00 am at the J. M. White Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Donnie Perkinson. Burial will follow in the Lewis J. Gupton Memorial Cemetery.
He is survived by two daughters, Wanda G. Williamson and Tracie G. Jones both of Henderson; one son Ronald Lewis Gupton of Henderson; one sister Blanche G. Stevenson of Henderson; six grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Linda Darlene Gupton; one son, James Rodgers Gupton, Jr.; four sisters, Alice G. Eades, Becky G. Pack, Catherine G. Wallace, and Irene G. Lugo; and three brothers, Alvin Gupton, Frank Gupton, and Jack Gupton.
The family will receive friends Tuesday night from 7:00 until 8:30 at the J. M. White Funeral Home. At other times they will be at the home.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Tommy Brynat, Codie Jones, Ryan Brown, Greg Anderson, Davey Harris, and Bill McElroy.
