James W. "Dick" Pegram

James Wheeler "Dick" Pegram, age 83, a resident of 2725 Stewart Farm Road, died Friday, January 12, 2018 at the Durham VA Hospital.Born on April 17, 1934 in Vance County, he was the son of the late Herman Grey Pegram and Elsie Emma Short Pegram, and was the widower of Betty Jean Patterson Pegram.Dick was a Veteran of the United States Army and was a member of New Sandy Creek Baptist Church and the Ed Blue Sunday School Class.He was the former owner and operator of Aycock Grocery, and a courier for Maria Parham Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 am in the J. M. White Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Timothy J. Burgess.Burial with Military Honors will follow at Sunset Gardens.
He is survived by his daughter, Susan Pegram Miller of Raleigh; one son, James David Pegram (Sue) of Puyallup, Washington; two sisters, Mae Brame of Henderson, and Linda Capps of Bullock; two brothers, Howard F. Pete Pegram and Brantley Pegram of Henderson; and three grandchildren, Nathan C. Miller, Kyle D. Pegram, and Derek T. Pegram.In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one brother, Issac Pegram and one sister Florence Clark.
The family will receive friends prior to the service on Tuesday from 9:30 until 11 am at J. M. White Funeral Home.At other times they will be at the home.
Serving as active pall bearers will be his nephews Stephen Clark, Brooks Brame, Kim Brame, Mark Brame, Glenn Brame, Craig Brame, Howard Pegram Jr., Russ Pegram, Rob Pegram, Herman Pegram, and Bryant Pegram
