James Leslie Williams, Sr.

James Leslie Williams, Sr., age 88, a resident of 148 Lakeview Drive, died Sunday, November 21, 2010, at his home.Born on March 4, 1922 in Vance County, he was the son of the late Lee Roy Williams and Sallie Lou Hoyle Williams.
Mr. Williams was a Veteran of the United States Army serving during World War II.He was President of J. L. Williams Construction Company, Inc. which he founded in 1947.He was a member of the First Baptist Church.
A private burial will be held by the family at Sunset Gardens on Tuesday followed by a memorial service at 3:00 pm at the First Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Dr. Marion D. Lark and the Rev. Rusty Edwards.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret Peggy Hunt Williams of the home; two daughters, Margaret W. Davis and husband, John, of Warrenton, Virginia and Catherine W. Whalen and husband, Jim, of Machias, Maine; two sons, James L. Williams, Jr. and wife, Peggy, and Daniel K. Williams and wife, Mary Susan, both of Henderson; two sisters, Lottie W. Jessup of High Point and Mary W. Wade of Henderson; nine grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service on Tuesday in the Ladies Parlor of the First Baptist Church and at other times at the home at 148 Lakeview Drive.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Community Home Health and Hospice, 1242 Dabney Drive, Henderson, N. C. 27536 or to the First Baptist Church Memorial Fund, P. O. Box 75, Henderson, NC27536.
