HENDERSON-Jamie Thurston J. T.Thompson, Jr., age 91, a resident of 1922 Raleigh Road, died Sunday, December 27, 2015, at his home.Born in Franklin County on November 9, 1924, he was the son of the late Jamie Thurston Thompson, Sr. and Selma Gupton Thompson.Mr. Thompson was a Veteran of the United States Navy serving during World War II.He was employed with the former Carolina Bagging Co. and Kerilon and was retired from the Vance County Landfill.
J. T. was a charter member of Raleigh Road Baptist Church where funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 pm by the Rev. Robert Kelley.Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery.
He is survived by two daughters, Pamela Thompson Watkins of Greenville and Patsy Thompson Simmons of Youngsville; one son, Larry Gardner Thompson of the home; one sister, Shirley Pearce of Raleigh; five grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Mary Frances White Thompson; two sisters, Sallie Lou Gaulin, and Ruby Lee Aycock; and three brothers, Arthur Thompson, Freddie Thompson, Sr., and Billy Thompson.
The family will receive friends Thursday, December 31, 2015, prior to the service from 1 until 2:00 pm at Raleigh Road Baptist Church.
