HENDERSON- Our beloved Janet Bachman White peacefully went home to be with the Lord on November 25, 2024 at the age of 96. Born October 1,1928 in Edenton, North Carolina, Janet was the daughter of Jeanette Strause Bachman and Augustus Walker Bachman, Sr. She was the widow of William Brady “Boo” White, Sr. Janet attended Woman’s College of the University of North Carolina and graduated in the class of 1950 with a degree in Home Economics. After college, she met the love of her life, Boo White on a blind date. The two were married in 1951. In their 50 years together, Janet and Boo lived in North Carolina, Mississippi, and Maryland. They retired to Henderson, North Carolina in 1987. Janet was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. She was a friend to all who knew her. Above all else, she was deeply committed to her faith, sharing God’s love and kindness with everyone she encountered. She shared her warmth with others through many of her favorite hobbies, including her love of baking delicious treats and hand-knitting cozy, homemade goods. Janet also found peace in life’s simple joys – whether spending time with her family and grandchildren at the beach, enjoying a golf match, or watching the birds in her yard. She was an active member at The Church of the Holy Innocents for decades, serving in many capacities. Janet is reunited in Heaven with her parents; her brother, Augustus “Gus” Walker Bachman, Jr.; her beloved husband, Boo; and her cherished son, William Brady White, Jr. She is survived by her best friend and sister, Elizabeth “Betsy” Bachman Catlett; daughter, Janet “Jan” White Steele of Richmond; two granddaughters, Margaret Steele Edwards (Jason) and Anne Steele Whitmire (Westin); a grandson, William Aubrey Steele; and two great grandchildren, Addison Shaw Edwards and Augustus Worth Edwards. Janet will be deeply missed by many extended family members and dear friends. The family thanks her devoted caregivers who were very special to Janet and her family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Church of the Holy Innocents, 210 South Chestnut Street, Henderson, NC 27536. A memorial service and celebration of life will be held Saturday, January 25, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. at The Church of the Holy Innocents by Rev. Robert Beauchamp.
