Jeanne Palmer Capstaff

HENDERSON- Jeanne Palmer Capstaff, 78, of Bellewood Drive, died Sunday, May 4, 2025 at WakeMed. Born January 5, 1947 in Vance County, she was the daughter of the late Dorothy Burroughs Palmer and Hubert Franklin Palmer. Jeanne was a 1965 graduate of Henderson High School, 1967 graduate of Peace College, and a 1969 graduate of UNC Chapel Hill where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education and was a member of Phi Mu Sorority. Additionally, she was a graduate of Barbizon School of Modeling in New York City. She was an elementary school teacher, teaching at Kerr Lake School and Joe Toler Oak Hill before retiring from Granville County Schools in 2012. Jeanne was also an active lifelong member of First Presbyterian Church Henderson and an eleven-year member of the Woodland Garden Club where she served as past president and on numerous committees. Jeanne appreciated nature and loved watching the birds and tending to the beautiful flowers around her home. She was supported by a wonderful network of friends that included a weekly “lunch bunch” and DPAC theater group. Among her greatest joys were adventures with her grandsons, which were on-going until her passing. Funeral service will be held Friday, May 9, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. at First Presbyterian Church Henderson by Rev. David Fuentes. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. Jeanne is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Capstaff Trotman and husband, William J. Trotman, Jr. of Sugar Hill, GA; two grandsons, William Palmer Trotman and Walt Andrew Trotman; and her close friends, Maria Bailey and Elissa Yount. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant sister, Susan Gayle Palmer. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 5:30 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at J.M. White Funeral Home; and at other times at the home. Serving as pall bearers will be William Trotman, Will Trotman, Walt Trotman, Douglas Jackson, and Bradley Jackson. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 726, Henderson, NC 27536.
